Sign our latest PetitionIndependent and Labour councillors in Merthyr have denied there is any public concern about noise and dust at the Ffos-y-Fran opencast mine. This is despite many hundreds of local residents contacting the council or Miller Argent to complain about the effects of the mining activities.
We believe the Council has a duty to protect it's residents from the worse effects of the opencast mining activities and as such we have called for the council to investigate what resources it would need to fully enforce planning conditions and monitor the dust and noise coming from the Ffos-y-Fran site. Instead of backing the proposal, Labour and the Independents told us we would have to prove that people have any concerns. So, if you are in anyway worried about dust and noise from Ffos-y-Fran, please sign our petition below to help us put pressure on the council to better protect all residents. Summary of AimTo protect the right of local residents to breath clean air Full Text of PetitionTo: The Welsh Assemby Government We, the undersigned, believe that our communities have the right to breathe clean air and as such, are deeply concerned about plans to build the UK's largest incinerator in Merthyr Tydfil. We call upon the Welsh Assembly Government to protect local communities from the negative impacts of large scale incinerators by committing to allow only the very safest, greenest and most technologically advanced plants to be built. If necessary, we ask that WAG request more powers from Westminster to fulfil this commitment.
