Amy Kitcher launches Facebook campaign against incinerator

12.46.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 5th Apr 2009

Amy Kitcher has launched a campaign against the proposed monster incinerator for Merthyr on the social networking site, Facebook.

The proposed incinerator would be the largest in the UK and would burn rubbish from all over Wales and parts of South West England too.

Amy said, "Many residents have contacted me because they are really worried about the plans. I'm worried too.

"Whilst the company who wants to build the incinerator in our town can afford to pay a PR company, campaigners against the plans have to rely on cheap and easy ways to spread information to the public. That's why I've launched a group on Facebook for people concerned about the plans."
