Lib Dems Help Village Clean Up

3.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 5th Apr 2009

Amy Kitcher joined community-spirited residents in Pentrebach for a litter-pick organised jointly by Keep Wales Tidy and Cllr Kevin O'Connor.

Unfortunately, there was no shortage of rubbish to collect, and by the end of the session over 30 bin bags of rubbish and 8 broken supermarket trolleys had been removed from the local brook.

Amy Kitcher said, "It's great that local people have rolled-up their sleeves and taken the initiative today. The best thing about today was the number of children taking part - they were the stars of the show!"

"I was very happy to be able to help out. Pentrebach is a lovely village and the residents are rightly proud of it."

Councillor Kevin O'Connor added, "I want to say thanks to everyone who helped out today. There is a good sense of community spirit in Pentrebach and it was nice to get out into the village with the residents and really make a difference."

Thanks must go to Paul from Keep Wales Tidy for arranging the insurance and bringing along the equipment.
