T-Mobile have announced possible job cuts in Merthyr Tydfil

Michael German, leader of the Liberal Democrats in the Assembly, expressed his concern at the job losses at T-Mobile in Merthyr Tydfil.

Speaking after an Assembly debate, Mr German, AM for South Wales East, said, "T-Mobile is one of the major employers in Merthyr Tydfil. The prospect of as many as 800 redundancies is bad news for the whole town."

Merthyr is starting to get back on its feet; investment is coming in and new ventures are starting up. It's a shame that T-Mobile bosses don't seem to want to play a role in that renaissance. It would appear they are more interested in profits than people."

Michael German has written to Andrew Davies, Minister for Economic Development, to find out what action he is taking to prevent job losses in Merthyr Tydfil. "I've made it clear that I think he should do as much as he can to prevent these jobs from being lost."
